About the Institute
Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET), an autonomous, self- financing institute, approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, was established in the year 2006. The college was founded with four departments of UG courses namely IT, CSC, ECE and EEE with a student intake of about 400. The institute gradually developed into a multidisciplinary educational centre with 10 UG and 5 PG courses with a student population of 1500 students getting enrolled each year. The college was ISO-certified in the year 2009 and was subsequently accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A grade. The academic curriculum is formulated with emphasis on industrial applications, research and technology, so that the students graduating from SIET have high job potential meeting the industrial demand. SIET has an efficient placement cell that coordinates with all the major companies and facilitates in campus recruitment of the engineering graduates.
The management strongly encourages and nurtures research culture among the students and faculty members by providing excellent academic and research opportunities. About 40% of the faculty members of SIET hold doctorate degree and the remaining are currently pursuing their Ph.D programme. The institute has bagged research projects totaling about Rs 200 Lakhs from major government funding agencies including DST-SERB, DST-NRDMS, DAE- BRNS, etc. In a short span of 12 years, the institute has emerged as a premier center of higher education with a mission of accomplishing excellence in education and research and aims to be a leading university that would be the dream destination for engineering students.
The institute functions under the direct control and guidance of the Principal and Academic director. The management is committed to promote student’s welfare, provide encouraging environment to develop intellectual capability, critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving ability in the students. The management also provides student services by reciprocating to the different academic and non-academic needs of the students in a cordial way.
